Teacher Assistant, Early Childhood Education (CDA)
Overview
Assist in the supervision of children and classroom management at Blueprints' Maple Terrace Head Start site. Support 3-5 year olds in a structured, play-based environment. Collaborate with lead teachers to design indoor and outdoor learning spaces. Work Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, and earn CDA certification support.
What You'll Do7
- 1Assist lead teachers in supervising children and managing classroom routines, ensuring safety and engagement for 3-5 year olds.
- 2Design and implement indoor and outdoor learning environments that promote active exploration, creativity, and development across all domains.
- 3Support individualized learning by adapting activities to each child's abilities and interests, using Head Start frameworks.
- 4Facilitate positive social interactions and guide children in developing self-regulation and problem-solving skills.
- 5Document child progress and observations, and communicate with families and team members to support developmental goals.
- 6Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom that meets Head Start performance standards.
- 7Participate in professional development and team planning meetings to enhance teaching practices.
Requirements6
- 1High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2Associate Degree in Early Childhood or related field, CDA preferred.
- 31+ years experience in early childhood settings, ideally with Head Start.
- 4Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and engage in active play with children.
- 5Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- 6CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
