Overview

You will own the daily care and education of a group of children at our East Point Center, implementing a curriculum that meets individual developmental needs. You'll collaborate on a teaching team to maintain a safe, engaging classroom and build strong family partnerships. This role offers a chance to apply Child Development Associate (CDA) training in a supportive, standards-driven environment with clear growth paths.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Maintain a safe, orderly classroom and outdoors, performing daily health and safety checks and reporting deficiencies to the Lead Teacher.
  • 2Implement a balanced curriculum with child-initiated and teacher-led activities, using Head Start Performance Standards and NAEYC Standards as guides.
  • 3Plan and execute hands-on activities that build number concepts, language, and literacy, preparing materials ahead of time and adapting to each child's level.
  • 4Foster social and emotional growth by using positive guidance, establishing smooth routines, and encouraging independence in self-care and decision-making.
  • 5Build productive relationships with families by greeting them warmly, sharing daily updates, and coordinating conferences, newsletters, and home visits.
  • 6Assess children's progress continuously, using results to plan age-appropriate activities and support children with special needs.
  • 7Demonstrate professionalism by attending staff meetings, pursuing in-service training, and applying new knowledge and skills in the classroom.
  • 8Assume a leadership role in the Lead Teacher's absence, supervising substitutes and volunteers while maintaining effective teamwork.
  • 9Use Procare to document daily activities and communicate with families, ensuring transparency and engagement.
  • 10Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all licensing, Quality Rated, and Head Start regulations to ensure a safe environment.

Requirements10

  • 1Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field.
  • 21+ years of experience in a preschool or early childhood setting, with a focus on curriculum implementation and classroom management.
  • 3Knowledge of child development theories and NAEYC developmentally appropriate practices.
  • 4Ability to lift and carry children and equipment up to 30 lbs. unassisted and 50 lbs. with assistance, and to sit on the floor and stand up independently.
  • 5Physical capability to move around the classroom and playground, including bending, stooping, and climbing as needed.
  • 6Must pass pre-employment background check, fingerprinting, and drug test.
  • 7Ability to pass a hearing test and visually observe children from a distance of at least 20 feet.
  • 8Proficiency in using technology for communication and documentation, including Procare or similar software.
  • 9Demonstrated skills in teamwork, conflict resolution, and flexibility in a busy environment.
  • 10Current knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, Quality Rated criteria, and state licensing regulations.
