Overview

system safety engineer role focused on defining and verifying safety requirements for launch vehicle and ground support equipment at scale. What You'll Do11

  • 1Build safety analyses and documentation to mitigate hazards across launch vehicle and ground support equipment
  • 2Design and verify system safety requirements using the systems engineering process to ensure safe operations
  • 3Interpret customer safety needs and communicate safety criteria to internal teams and external partners
  • 4Drive safety reviews and audits of operational areas and test ranges to demonstrate compliance
  • 5Support launch vehicle design, testing, and ground operations to meet safety and mission objectives
  • 6Explain safety designs to external customers and support integration and mission readiness
  • 7Interface with safety and launch integration personnel and participate in mission working groups
  • 8Analyze integration and test processes to prove safety and mission requirements are met
  • 9Develop safety documents to support customer and test/operational range needs
  • 10Evaluate interrelationships of system safety requirements with concept design and development
  • 11Participate in accident investigations and identify corrective actions

Requirements10

  • 1Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 2 years experience or Master’s with no experience (Level 2)
  • 2Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of related engineering experience or Master’s with 3 years or PhD with 1 year (Level 3)
  • 3U.S. Citizen and ability to obtain SECRET clearance
  • 4Experience with launch vehicle or similar system design testing or mission operations
  • 5Knowledge of systems engineering discipline and its application to system safety
  • 6Familiarity with RCC-319 RCC-324 SSCMAN 91-710 and MIL-STD-882 (preferred)
  • 7MBSE experience with CAMEO (preferred)
  • 8Ability to work independently and communicate complex ideas clearly
  • 9Experience forming and executing schedules and budgets
  • 10Active U.S. Government Secret clearance (preferred)
