Overview
Own and define safety requirements for launch vehicle systems at scale across design, build, test, and operations. Partner with engineers and customers to mitigate hazards and ensure mission success in a 100 onsite work environment. Work within a Space Sector team focused on safety throughout the lifecycle from concept to deployment. This role emphasizes independent analysis, safety documentation, and collaboration with external partners.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and verify safety requirements for launch vehicle and ground support equipment to mitigate inherent risks
- 2Design and conduct system safety analyses across subsystems to architect a safe, robust system
- 3Review product systems and establish safety requirements for equipment and facilities
- 4Develop safety documents to support customer and test operational range requirements
- 5Perform audits of operational areas and report effectiveness of system safety program
- 6Participate in accident investigations and identify causes and corrective actions
- 7Interact with customers and partners on system safety topics and communicate complex safety criteria
- 8Analyze integration and test processes to confirm safety and mission success at multiple launch sites
- 9Support design and development to meet safety, mission success, and performance goals
- 10Evaluate the interrelationship of system safety requirements with design and development requirements
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of related engineering experience for Level 3 or 8 years for Level 4
- 2Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience for Level 3 or 6 years for Level 4
- 3U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain US Government Secret clearance
- 4Experience with launch vehicle or similar system design, testing, or mission operations
- 5Knowledge of RCC-319, RCC-324, SSCMAN 91-710, and MIL-STD-882
- 6Strong communication and independent work capability
- 7MBSE experience with CAMEO (preferred)
- 8Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
- 9Onsite in Chandler, AZ with 10% travel
- 10Experience in safety criteria development for systems and procedures
