What You'll Do9

  • 1Design and implement LOS calibration algorithms for on-orbit payloads using Kalman filtering and least squares estimation.
  • 2Develop guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) models for space vehicles, applying orbital mechanics and reference frames.
  • 3Simulate and test image processing and data exploitation algorithms in MATLAB.
  • 4Support payload integration and test activities, including ground testing and flight readiness tests.
  • 5Analyze calibration system performance using statistical methods and numerical error analysis.
  • 6Debug flight software constructs for attitude propagation and motor control anomalies.
  • 7Drive algorithm tuning and verification for payload and ground systems.
  • 8Collaborate with systems engineering to define requirements and verification plans.
  • 9Present technical findings and recommendations to stakeholders and review boards.

Requirements9

  • 1Bachelor's degree in STEM with 12+ years experience, or Master's with 10+ years, or PhD with 8+ years.
  • 2Active Top Secret or SCI clearance.
  • 35+ years applying applied mathematics to embedded systems and numerical error analysis.
  • 4Experience with electro-optical pointing hardware: encoders, resolvers, IMUs, and motors.
  • 5Proficiency in MATLAB and object-oriented programming.
  • 6Knowledge of Kalman filtering and least squares estimation techniques.
  • 7Understanding of orbital mechanics, reference frames, and time systems.
  • 8Experience with MS Windows and Unix environments.
  • 9Excellent written and oral communication skills.
