Silicon & Hardware Test Engineer, Semiconductor Platforms
Overview
You will own hardware validation and test strategy for advanced computing and semiconductor platforms at Metalight Solutions. Reporting to the engineering manager, you will collaborate with silicon design, firmware, and product teams to deliver robust test coverage. This contract role in San Diego offers direct impact on next-generation hardware releases and cross-functional problem solving.
What You'll Do8
- 1Develop test plans for silicon and hardware platforms, covering functional, performance, and stress scenarios.
- 2Execute and debug test cases on Linux and Windows environments using Python and C++.
- 3Analyze test data from JTAG, I2C, and PCIe interfaces to identify root causes and recommend fixes.
- 4Automate regression suites with Jenkins and Git to accelerate validation cycles.
- 5Drive bring-up and validation of new SoC and FPGA boards, documenting results in JIRA.
- 6Collaborate with design engineers to reproduce issues and verify patches in pre-silicon and post-silicon phases.
- 7Define and maintain hardware test fixtures and instrumentation for oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- 8Present test findings and quality metrics to cross-functional stakeholders weekly.
Requirements8
- 14+ years in silicon or hardware test engineering with hands-on board bring-up experience.
- 2Proficiency in Python or Perl for test automation and data analysis.
- 3Hands-on experience with JTAG, I2C, SPI, and PCIe protocols.
- 4Familiarity with Linux kernel debugging and device drivers.
- 5Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
- 6Strong debugging skills including use of GDB and JTAG debuggers.
- 7Ability to write and review test documentation and schematics.
- 8Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
