Own system-level manufacturing test readiness for next-generation consumer electronics at a top-tier company in Cupertino, CA. Partner with Technical Program Managers to drive test strategy from Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) through final assembly. Lead cross-functional teams in high-pressure New Product Introduction (NPI) cycles, owning test coverage, fixture bring-up, and yield optimization. This role demands hands-on problem solving with Python, LabVIEW, and TestStand scripts, plus deep collaboration with hardware and firmware teams to ship products at scale.
What You'll Do9
- 1Drive manufacturing test readiness from SMT to final assembly, ensuring coverage for all critical parameters.
- 2Collaborate with TPMs to define test strategy and schedule for each NPI milestone.
- 3Design and debug test fixtures and setups using Python and LabVIEW for high-volume production.
- 4Own test data analysis to identify yield issues and drive corrective actions with partner teams.
- 5Lead bring-up of new test systems at contract manufacturers (CMs) and verify handoff readiness.
- 6Automate test script validation and regression suites to catch failures early in development.
- 7Drive design-for-test (DFT) reviews with hardware engineers to improve coverage and reduce test time.
- 8Coordinate with firmware teams to ensure protocol compatibility and debug interoperability issues.
- 9Deliver test readiness reports to program leadership with clear risk assessments and mitigation plans.
Requirements9
- 15+ years in hardware test engineering, with focus on system-level integration and NPI.
- 2Proven track record testing consumer electronics at scale (phones, wearables, or similar).
- 3Hands-on experience with Python, LabVIEW, or TestStand for test automation.
- 4Deep understanding of SMT process and test methodologies from board to box.
- 5Experience with high-speed interfaces like PCIe, USB, DisplayPort, and I2C.
- 6Strong electrical fundamentals: schematics, datasheets, and oscilloscope debugging.
- 7Excellent communication and leadership in cross-functional environments with TPMs and hardware teams.
- 8Willingness to travel up to 25% to domestic and international manufacturing sites.
- 9Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
