Hardware Engineer, FPGA & Firmware Validation
Overview
You will own firmware and FPGA test development for SoC validation at Mountain View, CA. You will build C and C++ test content, low-level drivers, and custom firmware that run on embedded processors. Working with the subsystem team, you will extend compile and build flows to support custom firmware tests. What sets this role apart is your ownership of the FPGA prototyping platform, from board bring-up to bit file creation, enabling early silicon validation.
What You'll Do6
- 1Develop C and C++ based test content and low-level drivers for SoC subsystems, including self-checking tests on embedded processors.
- 2Build custom firmware that validates SoC features at the subsystem level, focusing on first-pass correctness.
- 3Extend the compile and build flow to integrate firmware-style tests into the regression suite.
- 4Own the FPGA prototyping platform (HAPS or Xilinx): create board images and bit files for bring-up.
- 5Debug and root-cause hardware and firmware issues using JTAG, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
- 6Collaborate with design and verification teams to define test requirements and coverage for new silicon features.
Requirements6
- 17+ years of experience in hardware validation or firmware development.
- 2Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems and test development.
- 3Hands-on experience with SoC or ASIC validation, including low-level driver development.
- 4Experience with FPGA prototyping platforms such as HAPS or Xilinx.
- 5Knowledge of compile and build tools (e.g., Make, CMake, or GCC).
- 6Familiarity with debugging tools like JTAG, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
