Release Train Engineer I - Agile Program Leadership
Overview
You will own delivery predictability for an Enterprise Data Technology Agile Release Train (ART) of 14 cross-functional teams, driving PI Planning and Scrum of Scrums to ensure value delivery. You will serve as the connective tissue across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Governance, and Leadership, aligning execution and surfacing risks. Your day-to-day centers on coaching Scrum Masters, maintaining Jira as the system of record, and enabling data-driven decisions. This role stands out for its scope: balancing strategic transformation, modernization, and vendor work in a complex ecosystem.
What You'll Do9
- 1Facilitate PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, and Inspect & Adapt workshops to align 14 teams on delivery commitments.
- 2Build program-level dashboards and forecasts in Jira that give leadership real-time visibility into progress and risks.
- 3Drive PI Planning readiness by ensuring backlog items are defined, prioritized, and estimated with Product Owners.
- 4Coordinate dependencies across platform teams, vendors, and modernization initiatives to keep delivery on track.
- 5Coach 4-10 Scrum Masters on Agile principles, servant leadership, and continuous improvement.
- 6Expose and escalate risks early, using data from Jira to support executive decision-making.
- 7Lead the transition from initiative-based delivery to durable product ownership across the ART.
- 8Partner with other RTEs to improve Agile processes and remove organizational impediments.
- 9Promote SAFe and Lean practices within the ART and Agile Communities of Practice.
Requirements9
- 17+ years coordinating delivery at the program level across multiple cross-functional teams.
- 22+ years managing or supervising staff, including performance and development.
- 35+ years on an Agile team, with 3+ years as Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Release Train Engineer.
- 4Hands-on SAFe and Lean Agile framework expertise, proven in scaled environments.
- 5Deep Jira administration skills for planning, reporting, and dependency tracking.
- 6Strong track record in PI Planning facilitation and cross-team dependency management.
- 7Experience supporting large technology transformations across Product, Engineering, and Architecture.
- 8Ability to influence senior leaders without direct authority.
- 9Preferred: background in Enterprise Data or Analytics technology domains.
