Senior Release Train Engineer, SAFe Agile Delivery
Overview
Own the Agile Release Train (ART) at Cox Automotive, steering quarterly PI Planning, risk management, and value delivery for a large-scale engineering organization. Coordinate Scrum Masters, teams, and stakeholders across Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to resolve impediments, drive continuous improvement, and ensure alignment with company strategy. What You'll Do9
- 1Facilitate quarterly PI Planning, feature refinement, and backlog management for the ART to meet Definition of Ready.
- 2Coordinate major feature releases across multiple teams and ARTs, managing dependencies and resolving escalated risks.
- 3Drive ART retrospectives and system demos to improve delivery predictability, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.
- 4Use AI insights to analyze program performance, predict capacity needs, and make evidence-based improvements.
- 5Lead AI adoption across teams, ensuring compliance with organizational AI policies and monitoring tool reliability.
- 6Create backup plans for system failures and maintain delivery capabilities without AI while preserving human skills.
- 7Coach the ART in Agile practices (Scrum, XP, Kanban) to foster a culture of relentless improvement and lean thinking.
- 8Manage change to the PI plan and communicate impacts to stakeholders, including Director-level leadership.
- 9Participate in the RTE Community of Practice to improve cross-train coordination and process evolution.
Requirements11
- 14+ years experience as a Release Train Engineer, with Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination (e.g., Master's and 2 years).
- 2Program management experience in a Scaled Agile environment, applying Lean Thinking and Systems Thinking.
- 3Experience with Lean Portfolio Management facilitation for program, portfolio, or executive-level.
- 4Experience in Agile organizations using Scrum, XP, Kanban, or SAFe scaling model.
- 5Agile Certification (CSM, PSM, PMI-ACP, or related) and Project Management Professional (PMP).
- 6SAFe Agilist (SA) or other SAFe certifications preferred.
- 7Strong technical aptitude and experience leading teams in delivering quality software.
- 8Stakeholder management experience with Director and above leadership.
- 9Must live within commutable distance to Atlanta office and come onsite multiple times a week.
- 10Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship; no OPT/CPT.
