
Senior Scrum Master, SAFe & Agile Coaching
Overview
As a Senior Scrum Master and RTE, you will orchestrate PI Planning for a SAFe ART of 5-7 teams, ensuring predictable value delivery across a $20M portfolio. You will coach 50+ cross-functional members on Agile practices, remove systemic impediments, and drive continuous improvement. This contract role spans Plano, TX, Charlotte, NC, and Pennington, NJ with 3 days onsite weekly, offering direct impact on enterprise-scale Agile adoption.
What You'll Do8
- 1Lead PI Planning for up to 7 teams, aligning objectives and dependencies across the ART.
- 2Coach scrum masters and team members on SAFe practices, fostering self-organization and accountability.
- 3Facilitate ART Sync and Scrum of Scrums to resolve cross-team dependencies and escalate risks.
- 4Drive backlog management with product owners to ensure priorities match business value.
- 5Track Agile metrics (velocity, cumulative flow, predictability) and present actionable insights to leadership.
- 6Implement dependency management and risk mitigation plans to keep the release train on schedule.
- 7Coordinate system demos and inspect-and-adapt workshops to pinpoint improvement areas.
- 8Manage release trains through multiple PI cycles, maintaining cadence and quality.
Requirements8
- 15+ years as a Scrum Master in Agile environments, with 3+ years as an RTE or Release Train Engineer.
- 2Hands-on SAFe experience: PI Planning, ART Sync, Scrum of Scrums, backlog management, and Agile metrics.
- 3Certifications: SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or SAFe RTE highly preferred.
- 4Agile tool proficiency (Jira Align, Rally, or equivalent) for portfolio and program tracking.
- 5Strong facilitation and coaching skills, with a track record of improving team throughput.
- 6Ability to operate in a hybrid model: 3 days onsite in Plano, Charlotte, or Pennington, plus 2 days remote.
- 7Experience with dependency and risk management across multiple teams.
- 8Knowledge of Kanban, Lean, and scaling frameworks beyond SAFe.
