Overview

You will own the design, development, and delivery of vehicle inspection and imaging solutions at Cox Automotive, supporting wholesale and non-wholesale workflows at enterprise scale. You'll work with TypeScript, Java, Node.js, React, Postgres, REST APIs, AWS, and Claude Code as part of a cloud-native, DevOps-focused team. You will drive technical excellence, mentor junior engineers, and champion best practices in secure, scalable software engineering. This role integrates AI-assisted development tools into daily work, part of a corporate AI transformation initiative. You will also modernize legacy components and influence architectural decisions.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Build and maintain high-quality code with unit, integration, and system tests for business-critical components using TypeScript, Java, Node.js, and React.
  • 2Design and architectural discussions with teammates to deliver scalable, resilient, and secure systems on AWS.
  • 3Ship AI-assisted coding tools like Claude Code to streamline coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation across the SDLC.
  • 4Debug and troubleshoot production issues, combining traditional debugging with AI-guided investigation to accelerate root-cause analysis.
  • 5Drive modernization of legacy components through refactoring and migration planning, using AI tools to analyze and propose alternatives.
  • 6Scale cloud infrastructure using AWS serverless frameworks and REST APIs to support growing inspection workflows.
  • 7Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance and peer programming.
  • 8Apply secure coding practices and use AI-enabled scanning to identify vulnerabilities and improve code quality.
  • 9Own feature development from requirements to deployment, ensuring quality, performance, and security.
  • 10Optimize system performance by identifying bottlenecks and evaluating potential fixes.

Requirements10

  • 14+ years of experience in software engineering, with a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2Experience developing with TypeScript, Java, Node.js, and React.
  • 3Hands-on experience developing software using modern programming languages, frameworks, and cloud technologies like AWS.
  • 4Ability to evaluate technical requirements, follow architectural patterns, and contribute to maintainable and scalable implementations.
  • 5Skilled in building partnerships, driving innovation, focusing on execution, and striving for excellence.
  • 6Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small development initiatives.
  • 7Strong familiarity developing REST APIs using an AWS serverless framework.
  • 8AWS certifications (Developer, Solutions Architect, or DevOps) highly preferred.
  • 9Exposure to AI-assisted coding tools like GitHub Copilot, CodeWhisperer, or Claude Code.
  • 10Authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
