Principal Project Manager, Commercial Construction
Overview
Own complex commercial builds across South Shore and Greater Boston from preconstruction through closeout. You'll lead budgets, schedules, and client relationships for a well-established general contractor with a steady pipeline and approachable leadership. Work side by side with superintendents, architects, and owners to deliver projects that keep clients returning. Mentor emerging project managers and drive repeat business in a collaborative, team-first culture.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead full project lifecycle from preconstruction planning through turnover and closeout
- 2Manage budgets, schedules, forecasts, and detailed cost reporting for commercial construction projects
- 3Facilitate kickoff meetings, progress updates, and internal coordination sessions
- 4Coordinate daily with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams
- 5Administer contracts, submittals, RFIs, and change orders while reviewing drawings and specifications
- 6Drive subcontractor buyout: bid, scope, negotiate, award, and manage performance
- 7Track costs, commitments, and billing to maintain project financial health
- 8Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies to protect budget and schedule
- 9Partner with superintendents to support field operations and maintain momentum
- 10Mentor project managers and assistants while cultivating client relationships for repeat business
Requirements9
- 18+ years of commercial construction project management experience
- 2Proven track record with a commercial GC or construction management firm
- 3Experience delivering projects from precon through closeout
- 4Preferred: experience in commercial interiors, tenant improvements, renovations, retail, restaurant, office, or ground-up work
- 5Fluency in construction documents, contracts, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
- 6Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with clients, subs, and teams
- 7Demonstrated leadership, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills
- 8Proficiency with construction management and scheduling software
- 9Bachelor's in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
