Preconstruction Estimator, Life Science Projects
Overview
You will own preconstruction estimating for Life Science capital projects from concept through buyout, delivering precise cost assessments that shape multimillion-dollar builds. Collaborating with a cross-disciplinary team of engineers, architects, and construction pros, you will translate design intent into actionable budgets. This role sits within a global firm of 12,000, offering exposure to complex Pharmaceutical facilities and the chance to lead estimating strategy.
What You'll Do8
- 1Create and submit detailed estimates, accounting for project risks and contingencies.
- 2Analyze project plans, specs, I&C documents, and take-offs to fully understand scope.
- 3Partner with the design team to propose cost-effective alternates that maintain quality.
- 4Prepare cost estimates for both small-scale and large-scale Life Science projects.
- 5Manage the full project lifecycle from estimating and bidding through installation and closeout.
- 6Calculate labor, material, and overhead costs, then present final pricing to stakeholders.
- 7Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, OEMs, and suppliers for accurate pricing.
- 8Coordinate with construction teams to keep cost data current and reliable.
Requirements9
- 15+ years in construction cost estimating for Life Science or Pharmaceutical projects, from concept to buyout.
- 2Hands-on experience with estimating software, Bluebeam, and on-screen takeoff tools.
- 3Strong grasp of CSI Estimating Format and standard estimating practices.
- 4Proven ability to gather and apply historical cost data and maintain a network of trusted subcontractors.
- 5Skill in managing multiple projects under tight deadlines, with keen attention to detail.
- 6Ability to interpret construction and I&C drawings, including details and specifications.
- 7Willingness to travel for project visits, startup activities, and industry events.
- 8Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Procore, and Project.
- 9BS in Construction Management or Engineering is preferred but not required.
