Commercial Flooring Estimator, Construction & Preconstruction
Overview
You will own the estimating process for commercial flooring projects across healthcare, education, hospitality, multifamily, and corporate sectors, with project values from tenant improvements to large-scale developments. You'll work with project managers, operations, general contractors, architects, and owners during preconstruction. The role uses Bluebeam, MeasureSquare, Procore, FloorRight, RFMS, and Callidus for takeoffs and bids. You'll join a collaborative team with stable backlog and long-term growth potential. This role stands out for its diverse project portfolio and modern estimating tools.
What You'll Do8
- 1Lead the estimating process for commercial flooring bids, from takeoff through submission, using Bluebeam and MeasureSquare to deliver accurate cost projections.
- 2Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, architects, and owners to secure repeat business and win new projects.
- 3Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to align estimates with project schedules and execution strategies.
- 4Analyze project blueprints, specs, and bid documents to identify scope, risks, and material requirements for each estimate.
- 5Prepare and present detailed bid proposals, including labor, materials, and overhead, to internal stakeholders and clients.
- 6Negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive bids without compromising quality.
- 7Track and update estimating databases with historical data and current material costs to improve future bid accuracy.
- 8Support the transition from preconstruction to project execution, ensuring estimates translate into successful project outcomes.
Requirements7
- 15+ years of estimating experience in commercial flooring or a related construction field, with a portfolio of healthcare, education, or hospitality projects.
- 2Proficiency in Bluebeam, MeasureSquare, Procore, FloorRight, RFMS, or similar estimating software, as well as Microsoft Excel for cost analysis.
- 3Strong ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, specs, and bid documents accurately.
- 4Demonstrated experience collaborating with project managers, operations teams, and external stakeholders to deliver estimates on time.
- 5Excellent communication skills for presenting bids and negotiating with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
- 6Attention to detail in takeoffs and cost calculations, with a track record of accurate and competitive bids.
- 7Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
