Construction Estimator, Mechanical & Process Piping
Overview
You will own cost planning and estimating for mechanical and process piping projects from concept through detailed design, supporting life science sector programs valued from $50M to $1B+. You will join a global team at Turner & Townsend, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver accurate cost plans, benchmarking, and value engineering. What You'll Do10
- 1Develop cost plans and estimates from concept through detailed design, using CostX and CSI Masterformat to measure and price mechanical and process piping systems.
- 2Deliver and present updated cost plans at design milestones, ensuring alignment with project scope and budget.
- 3Prepare benchmarking reports and integrate data to ensure accurate capture of market rates and labor costs.
- 4Review 3rd party estimates and EPCM submissions, identifying gaps and reporting findings to clients.
- 5Support client land acquisitions by providing preliminary cost assessments and feasibility studies.
- 6Model construction life cycle costs, including cash commit forecasts and life cycle costing outputs.
- 7Analyze labor markets, unions, and tax impacts to refine cost drivers and improve estimate accuracy.
- 8Lead value engineering exercises and provide commercial input to design optioneering from a first principle basis.
- 9Prepare estimates for project change orders and monitor SOX controls where applicable.
- 10Collaborate with stakeholders to support monthly client presentations and program-level cost management.
Requirements8
- 13-5 years of relevant experience in construction cost management, estimating, or cost engineering.
- 2Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying, or a related field.
- 3Proficiency with CostX or similar measurement software, and experience with CSI Masterformat.
- 4Experience supporting medium to large-scale construction projects, ideally in pharmaceutical or CGMP facilities.
- 5Strong communication skills and a proven ability to thrive in client-facing roles.
- 6Knowledge of value engineering and value management principles.
- 7AACE membership or equivalent certification is preferred but not required.
- 8Ability to prepare estimates from a first principle basis and review design changes at all stages.
