Mechanical Engineer - Mission Critical
Overview
Lead high‑performance mechanical solutions across major projects as a technical expert and design leader. Own design delivery and mentor cross‑functional teams while representing the firm in client engagements. Set standards for QAQC rigor and drive interdisciplinary coordination.
What You'll Do11
- 1Lead design and documentation of complex mechanical systems such as HVAC plumbing and fire protection with minimal oversight
- 2Validate and approve key calculations including refrigerant limits plumbing sizing and equipment sizing integrating results into system design
- 3Oversee setup of mechanical Revit models ensuring proper view configuration sheet organization browser strategies and annotation standards
- 4Resolve system conflicts through collaboration with architectural structural and civil teams
- 5Serve as primary mechanical technical contact coordinating mechanical submittals RFIs and substitutions
- 6Perform site visits field verification and punch walks generating professional mechanical field reports
- 7Provide design leadership from concept through construction administration guiding system selection performance targets and documentation
- 8Guide QAQC reviews and develop project‑specific mechanical quality plans
- 9Mentor junior engineers through delegation technical feedback and one‑on‑one coaching
- 10Participate in fee development scoping and resource planning for mechanical scope
- 11Lead internal and external project meetings presenting mechanical concepts decisions and trade‑offs
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required
- 2P.E. licensure required
- 310+ years in the AEC industry preferred
- 4Strong understanding of mission critical HVAC systems including fan coil walls MDR/MMR CRAHs air and water cooled chillers and liquid cooling systems
- 5Ability to interpret CFD reports and apply findings to design decisions
- 6Knowledge of IEEC ASHRAE 90.1 and 90.4 efficiency requirements and data center redundancy standards
- 7Experience with Revit word processing spreadsheets and email required
- 8Detail‑oriented self‑motivated personality with effective written and verbal communication skills
- 9Physical ability to sit prolonged periods at a desk and communicate via phone video conferencing and in‑person
- 10Commitment to teamwork under tight deadlines
