Electrical Engineer MEP Consulting
Overview
Design and layout of HVAC and mechanical building systems within a full-service MEP consulting environment. Support senior engineers in heating and cooling load calculations, prepare construction documents, and develop technical specifications. Use AutoCAD and/or Revit to create and modify engineering drawings, assist with equipment selection, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams. Hands-on experience across full project lifecycle from surveys to documentation while applying industry standards and building codes.
What You'll Do11
- 1Assist with design and layout of HVAC and mechanical building systems for various building types
- 2Perform heating and cooling load calculations under senior engineer guidance
- 3Support construction document preparation including engineering drawings and technical specifications
- 4Utilize AutoCAD and/or Revit to develop and modify engineering drawings
- 5Assist with equipment selection for air handling units fans pumps chillers boilers and related systems
- 6Coordinate design efforts with architects electrical engineers plumbing engineers structural engineers and other stakeholders
- 7Conduct site visits and existing condition surveys to gather information for project design
- 8Support review of shop drawings submittals and RFIs during construction phase
- 9Prepare engineering reports calculations and technical documentation
- 10Participate in project meetings and collaborate with project teams for successful delivery
- 11Apply industry standards building codes and engineering best practices
Requirements14
- 1Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 2Electrical engineering background with strong interest in MEP design
- 3Proficiency in AutoCAD for engineering drawings
- 4Strong understanding of thermodynamics fluid mechanics and heat transfer
- 5Solid mechanical design aptitude related to building systems
- 6Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 7Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- 8Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel Word and Outlook
- 9Experience or coursework in HVAC mechanical electrical plumbing and fire protection systems design
- 10Familiarity with Revit or willingness to learn for MEP design
- 11Ability to collaborate with architects engineers and project stakeholders
- 12Interest in gaining hands-on experience across all project phases
- 13Experience conducting site visits and translating findings into design solutions
- 14Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
