Overview
You will own boundary, topographic, and right-of-way surveys for municipal civil engineering projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality deliverables. Support proposal development for upcoming contracts in Montgomery County, MD, collaborating with civil engineers and municipal staff. Use AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, and ArcGIS to produce survey plats and base maps. This on-call role demands a licensed Maryland P.E. or PLS with 5+ years of experience, delivering technical review and advisory support.
What You'll Do8
- 1Lead boundary, topographic, ALTA/ACSM, and right-of-way surveys using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Trimble Business Center.
- 2Prepare legal descriptions, plats, easements, and record documents per Maryland survey standards.
- 3Coordinate survey scheduling and field crews, managing GPS/GNSS and conventional operations for control networks and construction staking.
- 4Produce survey plats and base maps with ArcGIS for municipal infrastructure projects.
- 5Review, sign, and stamp final survey deliverables, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- 6Support proposal development with qualifications, project references, and technical input for RFP responses.
- 7Coordinate with municipal staff and project teams on easement acquisition and ROW alignment.
- 8Provide on-call technical review for survey work as municipal projects arise.
Requirements8
- 1Active Maryland P.E. or PLS license required.
- 25+ years in land surveying, boundary/topographic work, or ROW experience.
- 3Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, ArcGIS, and GPS/GNSS systems.
- 4Knowledge of Maryland survey standards and ROW regulations.
- 5Experience in easement preparation and legal description writing.
- 6Project management ability for scheduling and field crew coordination.
- 7Technical writing skills for reports and proposals.
- 8Construction staking experience preferred.
