Civil Drafter, Land Survey & Civil 3D
Overview
You will own drafting and survey document production for a civil engineering firm focused on residential land development. You will produce ALTA/NSPS surveys, preliminary and final plats, and certificates of survey using Civil 3D and AutoCAD. Working with a small team of PEs, registered land surveyors, and field crews, you will support metro-area residential projects and public development. This contract-to-hire role requires hands-on coordination with field staff and engineers to deliver accurate, detailed survey deliverables.
What You'll Do10
- 1Draft and prepare ALTA/NSPS surveys, preliminary plats, final plats, and certificates of survey for new home construction, developed neighborhoods, and custom home sites.
- 2Create survey certificates for housing developments and land development projects using Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- 3Collaborate with field crews to ensure accurate collection, transfer, and use of survey data.
- 4Review incoming field data for completeness and accuracy, and resolve discrepancies with field staff.
- 5Partner with civil engineers on layout and grading plans for residential land development projects.
- 6Coordinate with clients to understand project requirements and incorporate feedback into survey documents.
- 7Produce clear, detailed drafting deliverables using Civil 3D and AutoCAD for residential and public projects.
- 8Interpret topographic and land surveying data to support design and documentation.
- 9Maintain organized project files and documentation for surveys, plats, and certificates.
- 10Support survey and engineering teams with additional drafting and survey-related tasks.
Requirements10
- 12+ years of land surveying experience, including residential or land development projects.
- 22+ years of ALTA/NSPS survey experience, including drafting and preparation of survey documents.
- 32+ years of drafting experience in a surveying or civil engineering environment.
- 4Proficiency with Civil 3D for civil drafting and land development design support.
- 5Proficiency with AutoCAD for survey drafting and preparation of plats and certificates.
- 6Hands-on experience with land surveying workflows and office-field crew coordination.
- 7Ability to interpret topographic data and survey measurements.
- 8Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and survey documentation.
- 9Effective communication skills for collaborating with field crews, engineers, and clients.
- 10Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a professional office setting.
