Project Surveyor Job in Chicago | AutoCAD Civil3D
Overview
You will own the translation of raw survey data into precise project deliverables and contract documents, working on projects that range from small site plans to large transportation corridors. You will use AutoCAD and Civil3D daily to produce drawings that meet municipal and client standards. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and surveyors to ensure every project adheres to technical specifications through rigorous Quality Control and Quality Assurance practices. What You'll Do10
- 1Prepare finished drawings from complex sketches, notes, and verbal instruction using AutoCAD and Civil3D.
- 2Collect, review, and maintain project records and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- 3Analyze sketches and notes to determine the best approach for developing and completing drawings.
- 4Utilize Civil3D to design projects of varying size, scope, and complexity per company and project specifications.
- 5Research recorded documents and deeds to support boundary and topographic surveys.
- 6Independently review work product to ensure compliance with Quality Control and Quality Assurance standards.
- 7Monitor budget hours and project schedules, escalating concerns to the project manager promptly.
- 8Assist in preparing calculations and drafting estimates for proposed projects.
- 9Build and maintain trusted relationships with multidisciplinary team members and clients.
- 10Mentor less experienced technicians and resolve drawing production issues as they arise.
Requirements10
- 14+ years of applicable experience in land surveying or drafting (education or certification considered).
- 2High school diploma or equivalent required; college credits in surveying technology preferred.
- 3Surveyor-In-Training (SIT) certification preferred.
- 4Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D required.
- 5Familiarity with Microstation, Bentley OpenRoads, and Trimble Business Center preferred.
- 6Foundational point cloud experience with TBC, Pix4D, or Mach 9 preferred.
- 7Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Bluebeam, and PowerPoint.
- 8Working knowledge of land surveying principles and instruments.
- 9Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- 10Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet project deadlines.
