Maintenance Assistant, Property Maintenance & Safety Systems
Overview
Maintenance Assistant owns on-site repairs and upkeep for a senior living community at scale, ensuring resident comfort and safety. You will support plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and safety systems across the property with other maintenance staff. The role emphasizes hands-on work, responsive ticket completion, and collaboration with residents, families, and vendors. What You'll Do10
- 1Build and repair HVAC components including compressors and refrigerant systems to restore service within standard timelines
- 2Repair and replace plumbing fixtures and drainage systems to prevent leaks and ensure resident safety
- 3Perform electrical repairs including lighting, switches, outlets, motors, and appliances while maintaining compliance
- 4Repair doors, locks, walls, and ceilings and install grab bars, cabinets, and window treatments to improve accessibility and aesthetics
- 5Maintain safety equipment, fire alarm systems, smoke detectors, and emergency call systems to protect residents and staff
- 6Assist with move-in/out details and prepare rooms for resident use
- 7Test and maintain safety protocols and respond to on-call emergencies as needed
- 8Replace windows and tinting and perform roof repairs to preserve property integrity
- 9Complete work orders promptly and document outcomes for ongoing maintenance planning
- 10Stay flexible in work assignments and collaborate with vendors and team members to meet community needs
Requirements5
- 1High School diploma or equivalent
- 2May require First Aid Certification and valid Driver’s License
- 3Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 4Ability to stand, bend, lift up to 100 pounds with assistance for heavier loads
- 5Ability to work evenings, weekends, overtime and holidays as needed
