Maintenance Assistant, Skilled Nursing Facility
Overview
You will own the day-to-day upkeep of our Skilled Nursing facility, inspecting and repairing HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems to keep residents and staff safe. You will work alongside a Maintenance Director and a regional team, coordinating schedules and responding to requests across the building. Your mechanical background and hands-on approach will directly impact the comfort and safety of our community. What You'll Do8
- 1Inspect HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems daily, documenting issues and completing repairs within 24 hours.
- 2Troubleshoot and fix promptly reported maintenance requests from staff or tenants, using diagnostic tools and spare parts.
- 3Perform preventive maintenance on boilers, air handlers, and water heaters to extend equipment life and reduce breakdowns.
- 4Paint, patch drywall, and complete light carpentry tasks to maintain the facility's appearance and meet safety codes.
- 5Coordinate with the Maintenance Director to prioritize work orders and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- 6Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections using maintenance management software.
- 7Support grounds maintenance, including snow removal and landscaping, to keep the exterior safe and inviting.
- 8Lead emergency repairs during off-hours, ensuring immediate response to critical issues like electrical failures or plumbing leaks.
Requirements6
- 1High School Diploma or GED required.
- 22+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in a Skilled Nursing or healthcare facility.
- 3Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, with ability to diagnose and repair common issues.
- 4Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for off-site supply runs and emergency calls.
- 5Commitment to safety regulations and ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders.
- 6Basic computer skills for work order tracking and maintenance logs.
