What You'll Do10
- 1Enforce all pool rules and safety guidelines with a firm but friendly approach.
- 2Scan and patrol the pool deck continuously to spot signs of distress immediately.
- 3Test water quality using a kit and record results accurately to maintain pool standards.
- 4Complete incident reports at the moment of an event, documenting facts clearly and legibly.
- 5Use first aid, CPR, and AED to stabilize victims until EMS arrives.
- 6Keep all rescue equipment functional and accessible, including whistle, tube, and fanny pack.
- 7Maintain current First Aid, CPR/AED, and Oxygen certifications and show proof when asked.
- 8Follow OSHA Universal Precautions when handling bloodborne pathogens.
- 9Secure the pool area before leaving, ensuring no one remains without supervision.
- 10Communicate pool policies and hazards verbally and in writing to members and staff.
Requirements10
- 116 years or older.
- 2Current Lifesaving, First Aid, CPR/AED, and Oxygen certifications.
- 3Ability to enforce rules effectively and positively, with professional judgment.
- 4Capacity to react without hesitation in emergency situations.
- 5Skill to use a water testing kit and record accurate results.
- 6Physical strength and stamina to rescue struggling adult swimmers and lift heavy loads.
- 7Vision and hearing sufficient to detect distress and alarms in the pool area.
- 8Comfort working in warm, humid indoor and outdoor environments.
- 9Reliability in arriving on time and adhering to scheduled hours.
- 10Professional appearance and adherence to YMCA attire policy.
