What You'll Do11
- 1Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area achieving a 10x10 reaction time while providing timely redirection and warnings.
- 2Respond to emergencies immediately following YMCA policies and procedures.
- 3Enforce safety rules and maintain cleanliness of pool decks and aquatic zones.
- 4Greet members and participants establishing strong relationships to enhance engagement and retention.
- 5Assist in promoting Family Center aquatic programs such as lap swimming and swim lessons.
- 6Plan culturally relevant program activities aligned with YMCA values for diverse learners.
- 7Create innovative approaches to meet participant needs while adhering to evidence based practices.
- 8Supervise students identifying those needing assistance to ensure a positive learning environment.
- 9Hold staff meetings attend monthly in-services and complete required training sessions.
- 10Represent YMCA mission and core values during interactions with community members.
- 11Perform lifeguard water tests and execute strenuous physical tasks for professional rescues.
Requirements9
- 1Minimum age 16 years old with current Lifeguard or Swim Instructor certification by hire date.
- 2Previous certification preferred for either role.
- 3Valid CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required by hire date.
- 4Current Oxygen Administration certification required by hire date.
- 5Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends and holidays with on-call rotations.
- 6Willingness to work outdoors under varying weather conditions and handle hazardous chemicals safely.
- 7Strong auditory verbal and visual communication skills for in-person and phone interactions.
- 8Physical stamina to perform strenuous tasks and pass lifeguard water tests.
- 9Commitment to supporting member development and fostering inclusive community spirit.
