General Maintenance Worker, PK-12 Facilities & Grounds
Overview
The General Maintenance Worker will own hands on maintenance across school facilities at scale within a district. You will collaborate with the lead and other trades to complete projects safely and efficiently. You will address immediate safety concerns, perform varied tasks from carpentry to plumbing, and prepare documentation on repairs and activities. This role stands out by combining building systems upkeep with grounds maintenance and event support in an educational setting.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and install system components, classroom and office equipment for a safe and workable environment
- 2Inspect and maintain grounds, landscapes, athletic fields and play areas to support assemblies and events
- 3Coordinate with lead or supervisor and other trades to complete projects and work orders efficiently
- 4Respond to emergency situations after hours to resolve safety concerns
- 5Transport and arrange furniture and materials for special events and daily operations
- 6Perform a variety of maintenance tasks including carpentry, painting, glazing, plumbing, electrical and wiring work
- 7Repair furniture and building system components to ensure safe working conditions
- 8Prepare written repair statuses and activity logs for documentation
- 9Procure supplies and materials to maintain inventory and ensure availability
- 10Maintain tools and equipment and ensure they are in safe operating condition
Requirements9
- 1High school diploma or equivalent
- 2Valid Driver’s License
- 3Criminal Background Clearance/Fingerprint Clearance
- 41 year mechanical knowledge
- 51 year experience with hand tools and schematics
- 6Experience with safety practices and hazardous materials handling
- 7Flexibility to work with others in various circumstances
- 8Ability to read manuals and follow complex instructions
- 9Experience with project planning and basic math including fractions and percentages
