Overview
Field Mechanic at MasterTech will own maintenance and diagnostics for heavy equipment both in shop and on remote job sites across mining and earth moving operations. You will collaborate with a skilled team to troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, perform welding and fabrication, and ensure tools and equipment meet safety standards. What You'll Do10
- 1Build and inspect heavy equipment at customer sites and in the shop to diagnose failures in hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systems
- 2Design repair plans and perform maintenance to minimize downtime on mining, earth moving, and drilling equipment
- 3Lead welding, fabrication, and component replacement to restore equipment to spec within safety standards
- 4Ship high-quality work with clear documentation and ensure diagnostic software results are actionable for field technicians
- 5Own on-site troubleshooting and repair during overnight travel assignments, ensuring timely restoration of operations
- 6Scale preventive maintenance programs to extend asset life and reduce unexpected breakdowns
- 7Drive continuous improvement by documenting issues, parts needs, and root causes
- 8Resolve complex equipment failures by coordinating with support teams and managers
- 9Mentor junior technicians on tool usage, safety practices, and diagnostic procedures
- 10Implement safety and quality controls to maintain compliance on job sites
Requirements8
- 13+ years of experience working on heavy equipment such as drilling, earth moving, construction, mining, or agricultural equipment
- 2Excellent understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- 3Proficiency troubleshooting issues and using diagnostic software
- 4Experience with welding and fabrication
- 5Willingness to commit to overnight travel assignments when necessary
- 6Valid driver's license with clean record, CDL or ability to obtain one
