Facilities Assistant, School Maintenance & Operations
Overview
You will own daily upkeep, safety, and vendor coordination for a K-8 Chinese immersion school with a two-acre campus, reporting to the Senior Facilities Manager. You will manage work orders, oversee janitorial staff, and ensure HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems run without fail for 400+ students and staff. Your work directly keeps classrooms safe, events running, and the community thriving. What You'll Do10
- 1Inspect chillers, boilers, AHUs, and air make-up units daily to confirm all operate properly.
- 2Clear classrooms after aftercare, removing water bottles, lunch boxes, and sweaters.
- 3Police grounds, playgrounds, and nature center; apply poison ivy killer and weed control.
- 4Close and lock all gates and windows in the MPR each evening.
- 5Set up meeting and event spaces, arranging tables, chairs, and audio/visual equipment.
- 6Complete work orders for repairs in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC.
- 7Coordinate with third-party vendors for landscaping, pest control, and alarm systems.
- 8Supervise the janitorial crew to ensure tasks finish on schedule.
- 9Respond to security incidents and coordinate with the Facilities Manager and Director of Operations.
- 10Remove snow from entrances, walkways, sidewalks, and parking lots to keep the campus safe.
Requirements9
- 13+ years in facilities maintenance, including hands-on repair work.
- 2High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3Strong written and verbal communication using email and phone.
- 4Valid driver's license with ability to drive a 10 ft. box truck.
- 5Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
- 6Previous HVAC experience or ability to troubleshoot HVAC issues.
- 7Experience with school facilities or building maintenance preferred.
- 8Familiarity with electronic databases and computer software.
- 9Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin Chinese preferred.
