Facilities Maintenance Crew Leader
Overview
You lead a crew maintaining City of McKinney buildings, overseeing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural repairs across 40+ facilities. Your team of Maintenance Mechanics, Janitorial Staff, and Building Attendants handles service requests and preventive maintenance. You schedule work, inspect results, and ensure City standards. This role offers a path to shape maintenance programs and mentor staff, with on-call duties and emergency response.
What You'll Do9
- 1Direct, instruct, and schedule crew activities, evaluating staff performance and providing feedback.
- 2Oversee maintenance in plumbing, elevators, roofing, painting, carpentry, light electrical, and lock hardware.
- 3Develop specs for contractor work, ensuring compliance with City standards, and make on-the-spot corrections.
- 4Establish preventive maintenance programs for City buildings, tracking tasks via Cityworks and Tracer Summit.
- 5Order and control supplies and equipment, assisting with budget preparation and authorizing expenditures.
- 6Prepare reports and correspondence on maintenance activities, documenting issues and completed work.
- 7Ensure safety procedures and compliance, conducting regular facility inspections to maintain standards.
- 8Assess training needs and deliver training to improve skills in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
- 9Respond to on-call emergencies, coordinating repair efforts and communicating with stakeholders.
Requirements10
- 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in building and HVAC maintenance, including lead or supervisory role.
- 2High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 3CFC Reclamation and Recycling License Type I, II, and III.
- 4Valid Class C Texas Driver's License.
- 5Knowledge in advanced construction, maintenance, and repair, including electrical circuits and HVAC systems.
- 6Basic knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel, with ability to learn Cityworks and Tracer Summit.
- 7Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and 150 pounds occasionally.
- 8Pass drug screen, background check, and periodic CJIS background check.
- 9Preferred: Some college coursework in facilities management or related field.
- 10Preferred: Certifications in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical work.
