Own setup and changeovers for CNC mills and lathes at scale, ensuring precise tolerances and efficient throughput. You will read complex prints, perform PMs, and actively improve processes using SMED Kaizen and 5 Whys. Youll collaborate with a team to sustain safety, quality, and productivity while owning equipment from setup to part flow. This role stands out through hands on optimization and a strong safety culture.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Build and set up machines to standard work, run parts, and complete preventive maintenance PM.
  • 2Inspect deburr and perform manual operations; stage and preset tooling for upcoming jobs.
  • 3Keep visual controls current and propose countermeasures that improve safety quality and throughput.
  • 4Participate in SMED Kaizen and 5 Whys to eliminate waste and solve root causes.
  • 5Troubleshoot and report equipment issues quickly and clearly.
  • 6Be a visible advocate for safety protecting people equipment and property.
  • 7Support setup/changeover on CNC Mill 3–4 axis and CNC Lathe 2–4 axis
  • 8Read blueprints with confidence and maintain tight tolerances
  • 9Collaborate with team to optimize changeovers and part flow
  • 10Document improvements and share learnings with peers

Requirements8

  • 13+ years of CNC maintenance mechanic experience
  • 2Blueprint literacy and ability to consistently hold tight tolerances
  • 3Comfort with CNC tooling programming G code M code and setup/changeover
  • 4Experience on CNC Mill 3–4 axis VMC and CNC Lathe 2–4 axis
  • 5Ability to read complex prints and verify dimensions
  • 6Strong safety mindset and ability to advocate for safe practices
  • 7Onsite, Chicago area, full-time schedule with 1st and 2nd shifts
  • 8Willingness to work OT as needed and participate in continuous improvement initiatives
