Assistant Project Manager, Transmission & Substation
Overview
Assist Senior Project Managers in delivering a multi-year program of transmission, substation, and communications projects across Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and West Virginia/Maryland. Manage project budgets ranging from $250K to $50M, supporting scope development, scheduling, procurement, and construction coordination. Work within a collaborative team of engineers and construction professionals at an employee-owned firm with a 125-year legacy. What You'll Do10
- 1Develop project work plans with Engineering and Client stakeholders to vet initial scope and align on deliverables.
- 2Create outage requests and sequenced work plans with SMEs and contractor partners to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- 3Facilitate material and equipment procurement with Engineering for major components like transformers, breakers, and conductors.
- 4Prepare and submit environmental and non-environmental permits, coordinating with agencies and internal teams.
- 5Write and issue RFP packages for construction bids, including scopes of work, baseline schedules, and permitting documentation.
- 6Evaluate contractor bids and recommend awards to the Client, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- 7Drive schedule and progress during construction with regular on-site visits and progress meetings.
- 8Maintain and update detailed P6 schedules in coordination with the Scheduler to reflect current project status.
- 9Track project budgets and financial forecasts monthly, updating accruals and reporting to Lead PM and Client.
- 10Navigate client systems for financial updates and contract management, and support closeout activities on completion.
Requirements8
- 12-5 years in a construction project management role, ideally with high voltage transmission or substation projects.
- 2Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field from an accredited program.
- 3Ability to travel to project sites within a 1-3 hour radius from reporting location.
- 4Valid driver's license and ability to pass a MVR check.
- 5Strong written and verbal communication skills for interactions with stakeholders.
- 6Analytical and problem-solving skills to address project challenges.
- 7Experience managing cost and schedule on construction projects is preferred.
- 8PMP certification is a plus but not required.
