Overview

You will own high voltage substation and transmission line projects from pre-construction to closeout, with direct impact on safety, cost, and schedule. You will lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with utility clients, engineers, and subcontractors. This role suits a hands-on PM who thrives on complex electrical infrastructure and values safety as a core principle.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Own full lifecycle of transmission line and substation projects (5kV-500kV, 480V-35kV PCR buildings) from planning through commissioning and turnover.
  • 2Develop project execution plans, budgets, and schedules in sync with estimating, engineering, and field teams to hit scope, timeline, and financial targets.
  • 3Serve as primary contact for utility clients, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal teams, ensuring clear communication across all phases.
  • 4Manage budgets and financial performance: track costs, review invoices, and enforce contract terms with finance.
  • 5Identify risks and issues, then implement mitigation strategies to protect project continuity.
  • 6Ensure compliance with NESC, utility standards, OSHA regulations, and internal safety protocols.
  • 7Coordinate environmental permitting, right-of-way access, and outage scheduling with authorities and stakeholders.
  • 8Conduct site visits to monitor safety, quality, and progress, ensuring deliverables meet standards.
  • 9Deliver detailed status reports with progress metrics, risk updates, and recommendations to leadership and clients.
  • 10Oversee subcontractor and vendor performance, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.

Requirements10

  • 15+ years managing high voltage electrical projects (substation and transmission).
  • 2Strong understanding of transmission line construction methods and equipment.
  • 3Proven experience with EPC projects or utility customer turnkey delivery.
  • 4Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and protection/control one-lines.
  • 5Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • 6Experience with scheduling tools like MS Project or Primavera P6.
  • 7Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • 8Preferred: bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 9Preferred: PMP certification or formal project management training.
  • 10Preferred: OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, or safety certifications.
