Project Manager, Utility Engineering & Surveying
Overview
You own the technical and financial success of projects for public and investor-owned electric utilities, managing scope, schedule, and budget across a portfolio. You coordinate with Engineering Leads, Accounting, and Project Controls to deliver client deliverables and reports. With 5-10 years of experience and PE or PMP certification, you drive project performance and client satisfaction. This role combines hands-on project oversight with business development, shaping bids and proposals. You bring stability and growth to a team with 60+ years of industry leadership.
What You'll Do10
- 1Manage projects for electric utilities, owning scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance from kickoff to close.
- 2Lead project teams across disciplines, coordinating with Engineering Leads to track and execute client deliverables.
- 3Develop financial controls with Accounting and Project Controls, producing weekly and monthly reports for client and internal review.
- 4Interface directly with clients and internal management, reporting progress, costs, schedule, and risks across assigned projects.
- 5Drive bid preparation, including requests for proposal responses and cost estimates, to win new work.
- 6Support marketing with proposal development, defining scope, schedule, and budget.
- 7Write comprehensive technical project reports that capture findings and recommendations.
- 8Partner with Accounting on monthly client invoicing and accounts receivable to maintain cash flow.
- 9Develop recovery plans when project performance deviates, keeping work within approved limits.
- 10Build lasting client relationships, identifying expansion opportunities across existing and new accounts.
Requirements8
- 15-10 years of project management experience in utility or engineering consulting, with a focus on transmission line design.
- 2PE registration or PMP certification required.
- 3Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 4Proven track record managing projects for electric utilities, including public and investor-owned.
- 5Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess project risks and drive decisions.
- 6Excellent written and verbal communication for reports, proposals, and client presentations.
- 7Familiarity with financial reporting, including cost tracking, resource loading, and invoicing.
- 8Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings and site visits.
