Wire Harness Technician, Automotive Prototyping & Validation
Overview
Wire Harness Technician owns prototype harness design, build, and validation at scale, collaborating with engineering, build and validation teams on electrified trucks. You will plan, execute, and validate low and high voltage wiring systems, manage test bench updates, and drive continuous improvement across harness integration and build processes. This role emphasizes hands-on wiring, diagnostics, and cross-functional navigation in a fast-paced prototyping environment.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and modify harnesses and related systems to meet design specifications and project timelines
- 2Plan and drive harness updates and fixes with test scripts, execution, and design maturity in mind
- 3Lead cross-functional alignment to establish shared targets, scope, and deliverables
- 4Test harness components and verify results against design criteria, documenting deviations
- 5Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- 6Provide technical consultation on harness integration challenges and documentation gaps
- 7Support prototype builds and early vehicle build phases including test drives to diagnose issues
- 8Create and maintain wiring harnesses, test connections, and ensure safety and function
- 9Interpret wiring diagrams and engineering instructions to implement accurate harness routing
- 10Collaborate with engineering, build, and validation teams to ensure cohesive system integration
Requirements10
- 1Associate degree or technical degree with harness experience or equivalent practical experience
- 2Experience with automotive or heavy-duty electrical systems
- 3Hands-on experience with harness builds, prototype vehicle builds, or system integration
- 4Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings
- 5Experience diagnosing issues in mechanical and electrical systems including during test drives
- 6Strong communication skills to document findings, risks, and build maturity
- 7Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements
- 8Understanding of low-voltage and high-voltage harness requirements and routing
- 9Proficiency in building, modifying, and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- 10Team-oriented with ability to mentor others and share knowledge
