Trailer Repair Mechanic, Heavy-Duty Technician
Overview
You will own repairs on tractor-trailers and tankers for a family shop in Indianapolis. You'll diagnose issues, complete quality repairs, and keep equipment safe and road-ready. Work with a small, skilled team that values dependability and craftsmanship. You'll gain hands-on experience with heavy-duty systems and DOT compliance, making a direct impact on customer uptime.
What You'll Do9
- 1Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on trucks and trailers using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
- 2Perform Heavy-Duty Inspections, including FHWA Air Brake checks, and follow DOT guidelines.
- 3Use hydraulic jacks safely to lift equipment and access undercarriage components.
- 4Complete Repair Orders and PM sheets accurately for each job.
- 5Keep tools and equipment clean, organized, and properly stored after use.
- 6Follow all shop safety policies, including PPE and proper tool handling.
- 7Minimize turnaround time on repairs to keep equipment productive.
- 8Maintain professional relationships with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
- 9Adapt to changing priorities from management and work overtime when required.
Requirements7
- 1Tractor-Trailer and/or Tanker Repair experience, required.
- 2Knowledge of safe operation of shop tools/equipment, required.
- 3Welding experience, preferred.
- 4DOT certification in FHWA Inspections and Air Brakes, preferred.
- 5Own tools, preferred.
- 6Valid driver's license, required.
- 718+ years old, required.
