Technician III, EHS - Environmental Health & Safety

Overview

Own day-to-day EHS operations at a 90,000-square-foot aerospace manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and NFPA standards. Manage hazardous waste programs, high-voltage electrical safety, and crane/lift oversight while driving risk reduction. Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams in a lead-level role. This position offers the chance to shape safety culture in a mission-critical environment with direct impact on defense and aerospace projects.

What You'll Do9

• 1Manage hazardous metal and chemical waste programs, including labeling, storage, manifesting, and vendor coordination. Conduct required inspections and maintain compliant storage areas under RCRA standards. Support environmental monitoring for air, water, and waste streams.
• 2Assist with electrical safety programs for 480V systems and 4000A service. Verify lockout/tagout procedures and support energized work permitting. Perform routine inspections of high-voltage zones to ensure compliance with NFPA 70E.
• 3Oversee safety for cranes, hoists, aerial lifts, and powered industrial equipment. Track certifications, schedule inspections, and ensure compliance with applicable standards. Conduct routine inspections of production areas for safe equipment operation.
• 4Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and aerospace industry standards. Prepare permit applications, regulatory inventories, and submissions like CERS/EDV. Assist in preparing biannual reports and other regulatory documents.
• 5Lead or participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action verification. Support emergency response readiness including spill response, evacuation drills, and high-voltage incident procedures.
• 6Respond to workplace medical incidents within training scope (CPR, AED). Maintain AEDs, first aid kits, and emergency supplies. Document incidents and coordinate with supervisors and HR. Escort injured employees to medical evaluations as required.
• 7Monitor workplace conditions for health risks such as chemical exposure, heat stress, and noise levels. Communicate necessary controls. Participate in emergency drills involving medical response scenarios.
• 8Maintain accurate EHS records, permits, SDS files, inspection logs, and compliance reports. Conduct or coordinate EHS training for employees and contractors. Serve as the primary point of contact for daily EHS issues.
• 9Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to identify hazards and implement practical improvements that enhance safety and compliance.
