Overview

Detail-oriented Environmental Health & Safety Specialist supporting chemical R&D and manufacturing labs cleanrooms and optical test facilities. Report to Facilities Manager with dotted line to VP of HR & Administration. Own EHS program development and implementation across diverse technical environments.

What You'll Do11

  • 1Develop and maintain EHS programs for chemical R&D pilot manufacturing and cleanroom operations including gowning and contamination control
  • 2Perform walkthroughs risk assessments and job hazard analyses translating findings into controls and SOPs
  • 3Manage chemical safety programs covering GHS/MSDS storage segregation and hazardous material controls
  • 4Oversee hazardous waste characterization handling labeling and regulatory compliance coordinating disposal vendors and permits
  • 5Drive cleanroom safety initiatives including PPE gowning material transfer and contamination control audits
  • 6Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses implementing corrective actions tracking closure
  • 7Deliver targeted EHS training on chemical handling respiratory protection spill response and lab orientation
  • 8Support process changes through safety reviews exposure assessments and recommending controls
  • 9Conduct regular EHS inspections maintaining compliance records and preparing regulatory reports for OSHA EPA and local authorities
  • 10Serve as primary EHS contact for internal and external audits integrating safety into design and operations
  • 11Partner with Facilities QA Engineering and leadership to embed safety without compromising development throughput

Requirements11

  • 1Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety Chemical Engineering Chemistry Industrial Hygiene or related field
  • 2Minimum 4 years EHS experience supporting chemical R&D pilot manufacturing and laboratory operations with cleanroom expertise
  • 3Strong knowledge of OSHA EPA CDPHE hazardous materials shipping NFPA and state regulations
  • 4Experience with hazardous waste management chemical inventory systems and exposure assessments
  • 5Proven incident investigation JHA and EHS training delivery abilities
  • 6Familiarity with ISO systems and audit preparation
  • 7Knowledge of chemical synthesis manufacturing and cleanroom operations
  • 8Experience with EHS management software and LIMS/chemical inventory integrations
  • 9Floor-level safety leadership spending most of week embedded in labs and cleanrooms
  • 10Analytical problem solving skills and ability to translate technical hazards into actionable controls
  • 11Project orientation driving corrective actions to closure and reporting metrics to leadership
