Systems Engineer, Hybrid VPC & IT Infrastructure
Overview
You will design and implement upgrades for the enterprise IT environment at the Department of State, including VMware virtualization, Windows Server Active Directory, and Dell EMC storage. You will own the hybrid VPC and global infrastructure, managing authentication, backup, and email systems. This role offers the chance to modernize critical government systems with cutting-edge technology.
What You'll Do7
- 1Design and implement server and storage filer infrastructure using Dell EMC and NetApp to support distributed, high-volume data storage.
- 2Manage the customer Active Directory domain to provide authentication and authorization for organizational units in the NCR and domestic facilities.
- 3Build and maintain backup services with Dell EMC Data Domain and Oracle ZDLRA, ensuring redundant storage and integrity checks.
- 4Operate and maintain Microsoft Exchange clusters in data centers and at domestic facilities, aligning with modern email standards.
- 5Coordinate with customer teams to ensure DNS implementations conform to Department of State requirements.
- 6Administer DHCP scopes and leases to support dynamic network configurations.
- 7Update and maintain the Customer Hardware Request website to support deployment services.
Requirements8
- 16+ years of experience in systems engineering or related field.
- 2Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3Active Secret Security Clearance.
- 4CompTIA Security+ and ITIL4 Foundation certifications preferred.
- 5Experience with VMware virtualization and Windows Server environments.
- 6Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft Exchange.
- 7Proficiency with Dell EMC storage and backup solutions.
- 8Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and travel up to 25% by land or air.
