Infrastructure Engineer, Hybrid Cloud & DoS Systems
Overview
You will own the enterprise infrastructure for a Department of State hybrid VPC, designing and implementing physical and virtual hosting environments that support systems across domestic and international sites. You will collaborate with a team of engineers and security specialists to modernize infrastructure, transitioning decentralized resources to centralized or cloud-oriented environments. Your work will directly impact government missions by ensuring secure, compliant, and reliable operations. What You'll Do9
- 1Design and implement physical and virtual hosting environments, including IaaS and PaaS clouds, for all customer systems, ensuring compliance with DoS data sovereignty and security standards.
- 2Modernize infrastructure by transitioning decentralized resources to centralized or cloud-oriented environments using Docker and automated deployment strategies.
- 3Implement automated provisioning with Infrastructure as Code to reduce manual intervention and downtime.
- 4Audit managed assets to detect and remediate configuration drift, enforcing baseline integrity and DoS security templates.
- 5Provide end-to-end engineering support for Windows, UNIX/Linux, and virtual platforms, ensuring availability, performance, and capacity.
- 6Continuously evaluate and recommend new hardware, software, and cloud services for government approval.
- 7Ensure all hosting environments comply with FedRAMP standards and customer security requirements, maintaining system integrity through lockdown protocols and audits.
- 8Coordinate with SaaS vendors and internal stakeholders for seamless user experience, data integration, and lifecycle management.
- 9Support adoption of converged/hyperconverged hardware to optimize performance and reduce footprint.
Requirements7
- 15+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or a related field.
- 2Bachelor's degree in IT or a related discipline.
- 3Active Secret security clearance.
- 4CompTIA Security+ certification preferred.
- 5ITIL4 Foundation certification preferred.
- 6Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical tasks like stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- 7Willingness to travel by land or air up to 25%.
