Sr. EMT, Critical Care Transport (STAT MedEvac)
Overview
As a Casual Sr. EMT with STAT MedEvac, you own patient care and vehicle safety across a 48-hour per 8-week schedule, supporting a high-acuity transport team. You'll work under limited supervision, applying BLS and ALS protocols to critically ill patients, and collaborate with PHRN and Paramedic partners when medical command is unavailable. Your daily duties include equipment checks, stretcher operation, and documenting transport data, while you uphold UPMC's mission. What You'll Do10
- 1Maintain a clean patient environment and crew quarters, ensuring infection control and safety.
- 2Operate the patient-laden stretcher with proper discipline for loading, unloading, and movement.
- 3Report all injuries promptly and complete documentation per UPMC policy.
- 4Sustain fitness for duty by meeting employee health requirements, including weight and hearing conservation.
- 5Run daily equipment checks on vehicles, medications, and supplies to confirm readiness.
- 6Log crew onto the duty roster and respond to service requests without delay.
- 7Collect patient demographic and billing information accurately during transport.
- 8Collaborate with PHRN and Paramedic to deliver critical care, following BLS and ALS protocols.
- 9Participate in outreach events representing STAT MedEvac.
- 10Train new staff and support quality improvement through peer review.
Requirements10
- 11 year of EMT experience in the field.
- 2High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to any base site.
- 4Emergency Medical Technician certification, or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, or Paramedic.
- 5Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- 6Emergency Vehicle Operator (EMSVO) certification within 90 days of hire where applicable.
- 7FEMA IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700 certifications.
- 8Completion of Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, and FBI Clearance.
- 9Preferred: previous ambulance or hospital experience.
- 10Willingness to complete UPMC's orientation program, including classroom, clinical rotations, and on-the-job training.
