Overview

Lead OCSS hardware support and development at NASA Johnson Space Center. Responsible for maintenance and training of spacesuit systems ensuring crew readiness for deep space missions.

What You'll Do15

  • 1Understand OCSS hardware theory and operation
  • 2Clean and maintain suits according to safety protocols
  • 3Set up support equipment before tests
  • 4Assist engineers during fitchecks and training
  • 5Participate in pre/post event briefings
  • 6Support Crew Survival Equipment lab schedules
  • 7Conduct suit subject and crew training exercises
  • 8Explain ground support hardware theory and operation
  • 9Provide work authorizing documentation
  • 10Follow project documentation and support drawings
  • 11Test OCSS hardware including breathing systems
  • 12Build and recalibrate ground service equipment
  • 13Assist project management with qualification testing
  • 14Perform status reports on support activities
  • 15Execute independent tasks and collaborate in teams

Requirements11

  • 1HS diploma or 5 years engineering technology experience
  • 2Review and follow requirement documents
  • 3Assemble and verify space hardware
  • 4Prior experience in pressure or oxygen systems preferred
  • 5Knowledge of engineering drawings and JSC electronic systems
  • 6Ability to lift moderate hardware and stand all day
  • 7Meet medical physical standards
