Early Career NASA Network Engineer
Overview
CACI seeks an Early Career NASA Network and Computer Systems Engineer to support human-rated spacecraft systems at Johnson Space Center. The ideal candidate will own Linux system administration network configuration and IT security tasks while contributing to NASA's space exploration mission. This role offers unique exposure to cutting-edge aerospace technology and direct impact on national space initiatives.
What You'll Do11
- 1Support full lifecycle of end-user and server computer systems including procurement OS installation security configuration application installation and inventory tracking
- 2Respond to customer requests for changes fixes and other user support needs
- 3Install and maintain development and collaboration tools for hardware and software engineering teams
- 4Generate documentation and advise customers on best practices for using available tools
- 5Maintain accurate status and records of work performed using IT Service Management tools
- 6Monitor systems for security vulnerabilities and remediate findings
- 7Work with robotic space vehicle and simulation development teams to configure computer systems meeting NASA security standards
- 8Generate review and update cyber security documents such as security plans interconnection agreements disaster recovery plans risk assessments continuous monitoring reports waivers and incident reports
- 9Own and scale IT infrastructure services across diverse technical environments
- 10Drive automation initiatives using Bash PowerShell Python and scripting languages
- 11Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions aligned with NASA's exploration objectives
Requirements10
- 15+ years building Linux system administration with Red Hat and/or Ubuntu networking and cybersecurity tasks in a customer-oriented fast-paced technical environment
- 2Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering Computer Science Computer Information Systems Cybersecurity or related discipline required
- 3Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering Computer Science Computer Information Systems Cybersecurity or graduate level coursework in information systems or cybersecurity
- 4Experience as a help desk representative computer technician or system administrator
- 5Experience with NASA DoD or federal government security compliance frameworks including FISMA NIST SP 800-53 and related cybersecurity documentation and assessment processes
- 6Proficiency with ticketing tracking project coordination tools such as Jira ServiceNow or similar platforms
- 7Familiarity with cloud services AWS Kubernetes and containerization technologies Docker Podman
- 8Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to document system configurations processes and architectures clearly
- 9Ability to work independently manage multiple technical tasks and adapt to changing requirements in dynamic environments
- 10Certified in ITIL Cisco Red Hat VMware ISC2 or SANS through formal certification programs

$58 - $117k per year
