Senior Tableau Developer, Data Visualization & BI in NJ
Overview
Own data visualization and BI deliverables at scale for a public sector environment. You will design, develop, and optimize dashboards to empower data-driven decisions across multiple teams. The role operates in a hybrid model with on-site collaboration and remote work. You will engage with stakeholders to translate requirements into analytical visuals and ensure dashboard performance and governance.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and maintain Tableau dashboards that drive actionable insights for stakeholders
- 2Design data models and visualizations to support key performance indicators and executive reporting
- 3Collaborate with data engineers to optimize data pipelines and ensure dashboard performance and reliability
- 4Ship dashboards with clear data storytelling and intuitive user interfaces for non-technical users
- 5Own dashboard governance, version control, and documentation to ensure consistency across projects
- 6Drive data quality improvements by validating sources and validating analytics against business questions
- 7Lead user acceptance testing and gather feedback to iterate on dashboards
- 8Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver analytics solutions on-time during the 12-month engagement
- 9Prototype and present dashboard concepts to stakeholders to inform decision-making
- 10Demonstrate strong problem-solving and communication skills in a fast-paced environment
Requirements10
- 1Must be a current NJ resident and available for on-site hybrid work in Trenton
- 2Experience as a Senior Tableau Developer with a strong track record in BI and data visualization
- 3Strong SQL skills for data extraction and validation
- 4Experience with data governance, security, and workbook/documentation practices
- 5Ability to share a public Tableau dashboard during interview process as part of assessment
- 6Experience in a government or public sector analytics environment preferred
- 7W2 or 1099 employment status required, C2C acceptable only if applicant’s own corporation is used
- 8Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex data into clear visuals
- 9Ability to work in a contract role for approximately 12 months with potential for extension
- 10Must be comfortable with in-person interviews and working in a hybrid setup
