Overview

You will own the Youth Sports Programs at your assigned branch, leading daily operations and staff to deliver safe, engaging, and development-focused programming. You report to the Youth Sports Directors and collaborate with coaches, families, and branch staff to build a thriving sports community. You manage schedules, records, and compliance with YMCA and state standards. What You'll Do10

  • 1Lead daily operations of Youth Sports Programs, including team formation, scheduling, and facility coordination.
  • 2Coach and mentor Individual Sport Site Coordinators to ensure consistent program quality and staff development.
  • 3Drive player and coach development by planning practices, clinics, and skill-building activities that emphasize safety and fun.
  • 4Build strong relationships with coaches, parents, and staff through clear, regular communication and marketing.
  • 5Support recruitment and retention of volunteer coaches by providing training and ongoing guidance.
  • 6Maintain accurate records for programs and staff, ensuring all certifications are current per YMCA and state requirements.
  • 7Implement Association Program Guidelines to ensure consistent daily program and staff schedules.
  • 8Develop and execute engaging programming that balances safety, skill development, character, and community.
  • 9Coordinate with the state sports association to meet all required regulations and reporting.
  • 10Flexibly adjust your schedule to cover evening and weekend shifts, and step in as needed to support program delivery.

Requirements10

  • 11-2 years of experience in youth programs, preferably in a sports setting, with a High School Diploma/GED.
  • 2Proven ability to create and nurture community through relationships and program experiences.
  • 3Demonstrated experience in program development and staff supervision.
  • 4Ability to manage multiple schedules and priorities effectively.
  • 5Exceptional oral, public speaking, and written communication skills.
  • 6Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and a strong team orientation.
  • 7Proficiency in prioritizing tasks and organizational skills.
  • 8Must obtain Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications through the YMCA within the first 30 days.
  • 9Ability to relate to diverse populations from all social and economic backgrounds.
  • 10Multi-lingual skills are a plus but not required.
