Assistant Site Director, After School Programs
Overview
As Assistant Site Director, you will own daily after school operations at Lyndon Schools, supporting a team that serves 50-100 children. You will coordinate program logistics, lead activities, and step in for the Site Director as needed. Working with YMCA of Greater Boston, you will partner with school staff and families to build a safe, engaging environment. This role offers direct experience in youth development and program management, with a clear path to Site Director for high performers. You will also gain CPR and First Aid certification through the YMCA.
What You'll Do8
- 1Manage daily attendance records for groups using Boston After School & Beyond systems, confirming rosters and handling absence calls.
- 2Coach counselors in effective group management and positive discipline techniques, modeling constructive interaction with students.
- 3Lead daily activities, including sports, swimming, and community exploration, ensuring safety and engagement for all children.
- 4Plan and implement special events and Family Night activities, coordinating with the Site Director and staff.
- 5Support with camper file management, ensuring all documentation is complete and confidential.
- 6Report accidents and unusual incidents immediately, completing necessary documentation and notifying supervisors.
- 7Assist in the daily leadership schedule, including openings, closings, and extended hours, maintaining program quality.
- 8Attend all staff meetings and training sessions, incorporating learning into day-to-day interactions with students and staff.
Requirements8
- 118+ years old, with a passion for nurturing children and youth.
- 2High school diploma or equivalent; college degree or pursuing one preferred.
- 3Experience working with children in youth programs, camp settings, or related fields, understanding their developmental needs.
- 4Current First Aid, Oxygen, and CPR certifications, or completion of YMCA-provided training upon hire.
- 5Commitment to the YMCA mission and core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- 6Availability up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 6-8 hour shifts between 10am-6pm.
- 7Physical ability to lead and participate in all group games and activities, including swimming (must be able to be in the water during swim periods).
- 87D license recommended for transportation, but not required.
