After School Coordinator, Day Camp & Youth Programs
Overview
You will run daily operations for YMCA after school programs and summer day camp in Santa Monica, guiding 8-12 staff and serving 100+ families. Reporting to the Youth Development Director, you will shape curriculum, manage transportation, and drive family engagement. This role lets you build a thriving youth program while mentoring a dedicated team of counselors and group leaders.
What You'll Do9
- 1Design and implement after school and day camp curricula, schedules, and activity plans for 2025-2026 seasons, aligning with YMCA standards.
- 2Coordinate daily operations: attendance, registrations, rosters, and staff-to-participant ratios to keep programs safe and compliant.
- 3Manage transportation logistics, including student pick-up routes, driver schedules, and vehicle maintenance checks for YMCA vans.
- 4Lead onboarding and training for new hires, ensuring all staff complete required certifications and annual safety training within 30 days.
- 5Supervise and coach a team of 8-12 group leaders and counselors, conducting weekly check-ins and monthly staff meetings.
- 6Handle parent communications and resolve concerns promptly, maintaining detailed records and follow-through.
- 7Market programs through flyers, handbooks, and online listings, refreshing materials each season to boost enrollment.
- 8Inspect facilities and equipment weekly to meet YMCA safety standards and maintain a clean, organized space.
- 9Support special events and community engagement activities, coordinating with school partners and local families.
Requirements10
- 121+ years old with a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- 2High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
- 31-2 years experience in day camp or after school settings, as counselor, lead counselor, or program leader.
- 42+ years supervisory experience required, with a record of managing staff or volunteers.
- 5Previous YMCA program experience preferred, including familiarity with YMCA standards.
- 6Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with parents, staff, and community.
- 7Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Google Workspace for record-keeping and scheduling.
- 8Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic program environment.
- 9Experience with diverse populations preferred, bringing cultural awareness to program delivery.
- 10CPR, AED, and First Aid certification from American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety & Health Institute obtained within 30 days of hire.
