Before and After School Teacher, Childcare Program
Overview
You will own the education, supervision, and care of school-age children in our Before and After School Program, serving up to 25 kids daily. You will implement curriculum, maintain parent communication, and conduct observations. You'll join a dedicated team at the Butler County Family YMCA, a leading nonprofit focused on youth development. What You'll Do8
- 1Implement the curriculum within established guidelines, adapting activities for school-age children.
- 2Supervise children before and after school, ensuring safety and engagement in all activities.
- 3Conduct ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child, documenting progress.
- 4Maintain required program records and ensure program areas meet equipment, storage, safety, and cleanliness standards.
- 5Communicate openly with parents through verbal and written channels, building positive relationships.
- 6Attend and participate in center-wide activities, staff meetings, and trainings.
- 7Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including medical, disciplinary, child abuse prevention, and emergency protocols.
- 8Plan, lead, and participate in age-appropriate activities that foster development and fun.
Requirements9
- 118+ years old and possess a High School diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of experience with children.
- 2Alternative: High School diploma or equivalent with 15 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or human services, and 1+ year experience with children.
- 3Hold CPR, Pediatric First Aid, and AED certification within 60 days of employment by a PQAS certified trainer.
- 4Submit FBI Clearance, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Clearance, and National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR) certificate.
- 5Provide a health assessment with TB screening and verification of 2,500 hours working with children.
- 6Previous experience in childcare, teaching, or related fields; preferred.
- 7Demonstrate exceptional communication, leadership, empathy, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
- 8Ability to plan, organize, and implement age/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- 9Ability to work with people from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual, and generational backgrounds.
