Before and After School Teacher, Part-Time
Overview
A Child's Place seeks a part-time Before and After School Teacher for Exton Elementary in the West Chester Area School District. You will own the structure and daily operations of our school-aged program, supervising Kindergarten through 5th grade students during before-school (6:45a-8:30a) and after-school (3:00p-6:00p) shifts. This role is ideal for a high-energy, reliable individual who can build positive relationships with children, families, and staff. You will lead a team of support staff, plan engaging activities like STEM projects and arts & crafts, and ensure a safe, positive environment. What You'll Do6
- 1Supervise groups of students during snack time, activities, and playground time to ensure safety and a positive learning environment.
- 2Organize and monitor age-appropriate activities for school-aged children, including STEM projects, arts & crafts, and outdoor play.
- 3Submit monthly plans, supply lists, and newsletters by assigned due dates to maintain program structure and communication.
- 4Communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, parents, and children to support open and continuous dialogue.
- 5Implement positive discipline methods and guidance to manage student behavior and promote social-emotional growth.
- 6Assist with homework support and provide a structured routine during before and after school shifts.
Requirements7
- 1Must be 18+ years old and hold a High School Diploma (required).
- 2Associate's Degree or higher in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a Human Services field (preferred).
- 32 years (2,500 hours) of documented experience working with children (required).
- 4Ability to pass all background checks and maintain an employee file per DHS and ACP regulations.
- 5Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs, perform repetitive bending and stooping, climb stairs, and work outdoors in various weather.
- 6Visual and hearing capabilities to consistently supervise children per DHS licensing safety requirements.
- 7Light typing and word processing skills for documentation and communication.
Salary Insight
