
Senior Network System Administrator, Government & Enterprise Networking
Overview
Own the design, delivery, and security of physical Combined Test Bed (CTB) network environments at Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pacific). Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure for mission-critical operations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize performance and ensure compliance. What You'll Do9
- 1Engineer and deploy physical network environments for CTB using Cisco and Juniper gear, following NIWC Pacific security guidelines.
- 2Diagnose and resolve network faults across Layer 2/3, VLANs, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) to restore service within 90 days.
- 3Lead integration of new devices into CTB infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity and zero downtime.
- 4Harden network devices with Cisco IOS and Juniper JUNOS configurations, applying STIG compliance benchmarks.
- 5Monitor network health using SolarWinds and Wireshark, proactively identifying bottlenecks and capacity issues.
- 6Document network diagrams, change requests, and incident reports in ServiceNow to maintain audit readiness.
- 7Coordinate with Navy teams to upgrade firmware and patch vulnerabilities, meeting DoD RMF requirements.
- 8Optimize traffic flow by tuning QoS policies and load balancing on F5 and Palo Alto firewalls.
- 9Mentor junior admins in network troubleshooting, sharing expertise in BGP and MPLS.
Requirements8
- 15+ years in network administration or engineering, with a focus on enterprise LAN/WAN.
- 2Hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g., Catalyst, MX, SRX).
- 3Proficiency in routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
- 4Strong grasp of STIG and RMF processes within DoD environments.
- 5Experience with network monitoring tools like SolarWinds or PRTG.
- 6Familiarity with VMware and Linux for virtualized network functions.
- 7CCNP or JNCIP certification is required.
- 8Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one.
