Overview

You will design and sustain the Navy's enterprise networks, owning high-availability infrastructure from installation to sustainment. You will configure and secure Cisco and Palo Alto systems, automate with Ansible and Python, and support SD-WAN, IPv6 Migration, and Zero Trust initiatives. Collaborate with SMEs in Cybersecurity, Systems Management, and QA to shape network requirements for shipboard and lab environments. This role offers growth from I to III levels with clear technical depth and DoD impact.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Configure and install Cisco switches, Palo Alto firewalls, and wireless controllers across Navy enterprise architecture, including VoIP and NTP services.
  • 2Design and deploy VLANs, routing protocols, and IP addressing plans for shipboard and lab networks, integrating external services.
  • 3Apply and validate STIG compliance with cybersecurity teams to meet DoD security standards.
  • 4Create and maintain network diagrams, IP schemas, port mappings, and automated scripts using Ansible and Python.
  • 5Run diagnostics and fault isolation during test events and production installations, documenting outcomes.
  • 6Collaborate with systems, software, and cybersecurity engineers to deliver secure and resilient network operations.
  • 7Support SD-WAN, IPv6 Migration, and Zero Trust network solutions across the lifecycle.

Requirements8

  • 10-2 years for Network Engineer I, 3+ years for II, 7+ years for III in network engineering or related field.
  • 2Knowledge of Cisco ISE, Aruba ClearPass, FortiNAC, or Forescout for network access control.
  • 3Experience with Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto, or Zscaler next-gen firewalls.
  • 4Hands-on with Ansible, Python, or PowerShell for deployment automation.
  • 5Proven ability to deliver network artifacts like IP plans, network diagrams, and configuration guides.
  • 6Active Security+ or CISSP certification plus CCNA (I/II) or CCNP (III) or DevNet equivalent.
  • 7U.S. citizen with ability to obtain Secret clearance (sponsorship possible).
  • 8Bachelor's or Technical Degree from accredited institution or equivalent experience.
